| In 1946 Guy and Dillon Jones bought a used bulldozer to clear fields on their
farm. It was not long before neighbors started asking the brothers to do similar work for
them. Approximately one year later Jones Bros. Construction was officially founded. Over the next decade the Company experienced steady growth with new projects, new equipment, and new personnel. Jones Bros.’ identity as a family business started when Guy’s two sons, Guy C. and Robert A. Jones, joined the company. Suburban community development throughout the 1950s brought great work opportunity to the Company. Nashville was radiating outward and Jones Bros. was ready to help by constructing roads and utilities and preparing sites for new homes, apartments, and commercial buildings. The Company’s first decade ended with a major milestone in 1957 when Jones Bros. was awarded its first state highway project. The next few years brought steady growth and in 1964 the Company was incorporated and became known as Jones Bros., Inc. At this time, there were projects underway throughout Middle and West Tennessee with heavy concentration in grading and utility work. The family management continued as Guy handed over the reins of the operation to his son Robert. From the late 1970s to the present, Jones Bros. has continued to invest in the latest technology and equipment while adding new lines of business to its service offerings, including rock blasting and excavation, bridge construction, asphalt and concrete paving, and sewer rehabilitation. Today, the Company is still family owned and operated with Guy’s grandson, M. Dale McCulloch, currently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer. Jones Bros., Inc. is one of the oldest and most respected heavy highway construction company in Tennessee. |
